About the Author
Herbie R. Taylor, a retired colonel of the US Army, grew up on ranches in West Texas and lived and traveled in many foreign countries. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Tarleton State University, and a master of science degree from Shippensburg State University. He and his wife, Janice, reside in Salado, Texas.

A successful life lived and remembered

In the book A Boy From Barnhart, Herbie Taylor tells his story of growing up in small town West Texas To some of the highest echelons of our nation's military. Herbie has accomplished a lot in his life and his telling of his life story might inspire others to follow in some pretty big footsteps. The fact that a boy from very humble beginnings can climb up the military promotion ladder might give some hope to other small town boys and girls who have hopes of doing the same thing. His growing-up years in and around Barnhart, Big Lake, and the courtship and marriage of his high school sweetheart Penny Farr all come to gather to make Herbie's Story even better. His training and his professionalism as a soldier and an officer are to be admired. Also, his admission of having a problem with alcohol and his dealing with it in a straightforward manner show a part of human nature that many others face. This book is a great read and I enjoyed it very much. All former military men and women would also enjoy A Boy From Barnhart. Highly readable.

A great story about one mans life and his struggles. He tells wonderful stories about people and places he has been. Good storyteller.
